Care at a glance

Provide an appropriately sized, secure, well-ventilated terrestrial enclosure with deep, burrowable substrate, a hide and fresh water. Maintain a lightly moist area of substrate while avoiding waterlogging. Offer appropriately sized feeder insects and remove uneaten prey. Allow the exoskeleton and fangs to harden after a molt before feeding.

Often selected by newer tarantula keepers, this species still requires careful husbandry. Temperament varies between individuals, and routine handling is discouraged.
