When it comes to feeding live superworms to a pet reptile, it is important to keep in mind some guidelines:

  1. Selecting Live Superworm: Select the proper amount of superworms, large reptiles will eat several at a time, while smaller pets will eat less. You can also choose whether you feed your pet a larva, a pupa, or a beetle.
  2. Storage: Keep live superworms in a cool and dark place, such as the refrigerator, to slow down their development and extend their lifespan. Use a container with adequate ventilation and provide a substrate like oatmeal or wheat bran for them to burrow. However, if you want them to turn into beetles, keep them enclosed with wheat bran or oats and provide them with vegetables and fruit.
  3. Feeding Enclosure: When it's feeding time, use a separate feeding enclosure, such as a shallow dish or a feeding bowl, to offer the live superworms to your pet. This minimizes the risk of escape and makes it easier for your pet to locate and consume them.
  4. Frequency: Offer live superworms to your pet according to their feeding schedule. The frequency will depend on your pet's species, size, age, and dietary needs. Some animals may require daily feedings, while others might eat every few days. Remember superworms have a high amount of fat, so don’t use them too often..
  5. Observation: Watch your pet's feeding behavior as they hunt and consume the live superworms. This provides mental stimulation and allows them to exhibit their natural hunting instincts.
  6. Remove Uneaten Superworms: If your pet does not consume all the live superworms within a reasonable time (usually within a few hours), remove any uneaten superworms from the enclosure to avoid stress to the pet and prevent the superworms from hiding in the substrate.
  7. Variety in Diet: While live superworms can be a nutritious part of a balanced diet, it's crucial to offer a variety of feeder insects and prey items to ensure your pet receives all the necessary nutrients. Consider rotating with other appropriate insects, such as crickets, roaches, waxworms, or other types of worms.
  8. Hydration: Ensure that your pet has access to a clean water source for hydration, especially after consuming live prey, which might have a lower moisture content.
  9. Supplementation: Depending on your pet's species and specific nutritional requirements, you may need to supplement the live superworms with calcium or vitamin powder. You can acquire calcium powder from our store too!
